Adios, Jack Kilby

Jack Kilby, inventor of the integrated circuit, died yesterday at 81. His invention forever revolutionized the world of electronics, and gave birth to the industry I now work in as a product engineer — at Texas Instruments, where the IC was born. I once had the opportunity to do some work at the Kilby Center, a world class semiconductor research and development center at TI’s main campus in Dallas. Here’s a tribute to one of America’s greatest inventors.
