Randomness

Moving along in a state of flux, I determinedly wander about the net in search of various things, sort out important business and hack with what is still short of determination. Meanwhile, I noticed that the above snippet linking to the Entrance project page seems to appear and disappear in Internet Explorer. Of course this is a bug in Internet Explorer, and I could probably work around it very easily, but I’ll leave it like that for a while just because. Thank God for Mozilla that gives us a reliable reference for standards-compliant web design. Hmph.

For your amusement, someone in #gah posted this amusing take on the SCO vs. Linux saga that has plagued the tech news headlines for a while now. Also apparently a contract they entered into with Lindows Inc. previously may effectively invalidate any claims they have against Linux users. My reaction? *YAWN*

A few bugs have been fixed, plus some new important enhancements:

  • Time format is now specified in config, using strftime() format
  • Theme format has been modified so that sizes and positions are now specified as a single “x:y” entry, and colors specified as #RRGGBBAA
  • The autofoo system has been revamped a bit
  • Support for authentication from system passwd file (using shadow or otherwise) rather than PAM. This means that users using Slackware or LFS can now use entrance without having to worry about PAM support on their systems.

I graduated on Friday with a B.S. in Computer Engineering. With honors too. I think I need to get out and really party sometime this week, because I don’t feel like I’ve actually been let off the hook. I dunno, must be some psychological effect from having to worry about 3 or 4 due assignments and/or projects every day for several years! I think I’m going to miss some people a *lot*.
